Isaiah Silvia Chandley...

...A big guy, with bigger dreams

Isaiah Silvia-Chandley is an award-nominated choreographer who recently made the move from Chicago to New York City. Hailing from Amherst, NH, Isaiah has two brothers, a sister and an extremely supportive mother and father. Growing up, Isaiah thoroughly enjoyed playing ice hockey and football and participating in musical theatre and dance. He discovered early on his passion for choreography. He was blessed to find mentors and teachers who encouraged him to travel, without reservation, this creative path.

After graduating high school in 2012, Isaiah attended The Young Americans College of Performing Arts, an organization committed to global performance outreach, touring Europe, Japan and the United States performing and teaching song and dance. He has worked as a choreographer and an assistant to the director at several Boys and Girls Clubs of America national conference performances. In addition, Isaiah trained extensively at The School at Jacob's Pillow and Broadway Dance Center, with an emphasis in Musical Theatre Dance. Isaiah interned for Broadway choreographer, Josh Prince, and his company Dance Lab New York. In 2018, Isaiah graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance. Since graduation Isaiah has worked as both a choreographer and performer at Chicagoland theaters such as the Goodman Theatre, Paramount Theatre, Drury Lane Theatre, Porchlight Music Theatre and Metropolis Performing Arts Center.

Throughout the pandemic, a time when there was no live-performance, Isaiah piloted several dance films as a choreographer and director. Following appropriate Covid-19 protocols, Isaiah hosted multiple creative rooms in which Chicago artists had a space to create, explore and express themselves. Working with predominantly live-theatre dancers, he explored the marriage of film and dance.

Co-Choreograping with Michael Samarie George, Isaiah and Michael made their professional choreographic debut with Paramount Theatre’s award winning production of Kinky Boots, in which their choreography garnered a Jeff award nomination. Isaiah has continued to form a reputable relationship with Paramount and other Chicago Theatres. He is excited to have made the move from Chicago to New York City as he continues to broaden his network and shape stories through movement.
